Becker Marine Systems and Kongsberg Maritime launch KBIMS Rudder Force Detection at Nor-Shipping
To improve manoeuvrability and support of computerised DP + AP systems there is the need for in-time, direct or indirect measurement of rudder forces, which allows a continuous determination of generated lift and resistance. For offshore vessels and operations the input data and interfaces for DP systems have been adjusted in cooperation with the leading DP system supplier, Kongsberg Maritime. The fruitful result of 18 months of joint development is named KBIMS and has been launched at the Nor-Shipping in Oslo. The new product will be installed for the first time on a new Volstad offshore construction vessel.
